Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Broadcast dates : 19th June 2005
25th June 2005

The sixth-generation Chevrolet Corvette is now well into its production cycle, having broken cover over a year ago.

And as with every Corvette generation, performance and competition versions have been developed to satisfy those car nuts who demand the ultimate in horsepower and handling.

The new Z06 version of the Corvette is the most powerful and fastest Corvette ever built. It uses a small block engine punched out and stroked to a seven litre capacity, delivering 373 kiloWatts, a 0-100 time of 4,1 seconds, and a top speed of 305 kilometres-per-hour.

Countless kilometers were spent setting up suspension at the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife, the classic German track that is 22 kilometres long and boasts over 170 corners over a single lap!
Meanwhile in America, a competition version of the Z06 has been built to contest the famous World Endurance races, including Sebring and the Le Mans 24 hour.

Much is expected of the new Corvette, as the previous model scored four class victories at this most famous of races.
