The Noble
M400 is a mid-engined supercar, designed in England but
built in Port Elizabeth by Hi Tech Automotive for
worldwide export. It uses a three-litre Ford Duratec
engine with twin turbochargers, forged pistons, and high
lift camshafts.
Mid-engined cars can be notoriously twitchy, but not this
one. Clint was purposely squirting on excess power to
break those rear tyres loose. And he loved the four-pot AP
racing brakes.
The Noble’s predictable chassis balance allowed Clint to
indulge in some serious oversteer. But he neatly gathers
the car up, despite full dollop of some three hundred and
twenty kilowatts!
In typical English understatement, Noble’s brochure
proclaims performance as "quite brisk". And yet
zero to one-hundred is claimed in under four seconds!

But it’s the refinement of engine, suspension and
gearbox that really impresses.
The rest of the car’s build-quality matches that slick
gear change. Upholstery, panel-fit, bodywork – all are
top class.
